Donald Trump: Blacks are ‘worse than just about ever’ because Obama ‘set a very low bar’

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump predicted on Sunday that he would win that he would win the black vote because President Barack Obama had set a poor standard, which made things worse than just about ever for African-Americans.
He has set a very low bar and I think its a shame for the African-American people, Trump told ABCs Jonathan Karl. And by the way, he has done nothing for African-Americans. You look at whats going on, at their income levels, you look at whats gone on with their youth.
I thought that the would be a great cheerleader for this country, I thought he would do a fabulous job for the African-American citizens of this country.
He has done nothing, Trump insisted. They are worse than just about ever, they have problems now in terms of unemployment numbers
Here you have a black president who has done very poorly for the African-Americans in this country. The billionaire candidate concluded with a prediction: I think I will win the black vote, I think I will win the Hispanic vote.

(8,200 posts)The attack on Obama is only a very thinly disguised racial dog whistle to the rabid Republican racists. It is an attempt to transfer the conservatives hatred of Obama to every Democratic candidate. I find that some on this board agree with his assertion that Obama hasn't done enough to support minorities unrealistic. One essential item that would have gone a long way to helping the working class is the infrastructure bill that has been defeated by the Republicans who were determined from the outset to destroy Obama.

(489 posts)Trump is an asshole, unfit to wash cars let alone be president or own any business, and a criminal, but he isnt a tea party piece of shit either.
As in he doesnt get out of bed in the morning wondering how he can express his hatred for everybody, and I mean everybody, who is not exactly like him.
He doesnt have time to do that, he is working on how to steal from everybody including those who are exactly like him.

(1,727 posts)community being attacked. That was a reference to Bill Clinton not Obama, and I shouldn't have to provide evidence.
The effects of the Clinton's policies (i.e. promotion of free trade, support for mandatory minimums and tough-on-crime laws that disproportionately impacted minorities, support for the repeal of financial regulations that set the banks free to prey on minority homeowners ect.) and race baiting (i.e. Sister Souljah, Ricky Ray Rector, Hillary's disgraceful '08 campaign) should be well-known to everybody who doesn't have their head in the sand.

If the second option is true, then a for a great performance.
I have an uneasy feeling, though, that the first option is the truer one...

(11,619 posts)Real action requires legislation and four six years of the last eight, Republicans controlled legislation, A simple legislative fix would have repaired the voting rights act, but Republicans refused to do anything.
The first two years, the government passe the ACA, and tried to fix a crippled economy.
And really, blaming the first black President for the actions of 43 white Presidents is something I expect from a racist shit stain like Trump.
Springslips
(533 posts)Lincoln was ultimately a racist and he brought forth Emancipation for reasons of war strategy but doing that took real balls in the time he did. He risked his reelection ( not that that is an valid excuse, but relative to the other Presidents.) So we should leave him out. Might be pie-in-the-sky, had he not been shot perhaps reconstruction would not had been blundered and civil rights may have come sooner than it did. We can dream.
Agnosticsherbet
(11,619 posts)The Emancipation Proclimation only freed slaves in Southern, non border states. Maryland, Missouri, Tennessee, and West Virginia held slaves well into the civil war. Delaware and Kentucky did not abolish slavery until December of 1865.
It was the 13th and 14th ammendment that ended Slavery, though racism was an open and acceptable tradition until '64.
The Civil Rights act of 1964 was not the first Civil Rights axct, but it was the first one that was worth a damn.

(2,707 posts)if there's any 3rd party guy from a past election, this is the parallel. What he said tho is something I've heard some older whites say at times before Trump. I think the obsession about illegals and this show what Trump is about.
Its really sad. Trump was a reasonable guy in the early to mid-2000s. But I have to give it to him: his strategy and meteoric rise is sheer political genius. People thought he was bonkers about the birth certificate and that his family would stow him away to avoid embarrassment after Romney lost. Then again, politics is the last frontier when you have a ton of money; ask the Bushes, Romneys, etc.
malthaussen
(17,217 posts)... but Trump really does remind me a bit of Uncle Adolf. Say the most bigoted, outrageous things, constantly pile the hatred higher and higher, and mean every word of it. And watch the supremicists fall into line behind. Certain other windbags -- Chris Christie comes to mind -- also follow this formula, but Trump has a real talent for it.

Not just "don't identify with" or "have no association with", but hate, despise and generally do not even recognize the humanity of those people. But Donald's just a clown; he won't even win "Most Vile and Repugnant Billionaire in America", as there are at least 2 Koch brothers leading him in that race.
