Donald Trump Is Crushing Everyone In New Hampshire

Real-estate magnate Donald Trump has opened up a 2-to-1 lead over his closest competition in the key, first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire, according to a new poll from Monmouth University released Tuesday. Trump grabs 24% of the vote, compared with 12% for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. Newcomer and Ohio Gov. John Kasich has already jumped into a third-place tie with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at 7%.

The poll is evidence that the controversy that surrounded Trump last week — when he questioned Sen. John McCain's (R-Arizona) military record — has not hurt his standing with Granite State voters. The Monmouth poll was the first to be conducted in the state entirely after those comments. "The controversy over comments about John McCain’s war service do not appear to have slowed the Trump steamroller," said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute.

According to the poll, Trump appears to be sapping away the most support from Walker, Cruz, and Christie. If Trump were not in the race, his current supporters say they would mostly back either Christie (15%), Walker (14%), or Cruz (14%). Trump grabs 36% of the vote of self-identified "very conservative" voters, compared with 10% for Walker and 9% for Cruz. He also gets a plurality of support (35%) from self-identified Tea Party voters, far outpacing Walker (13%).

has gone on to win the nomination all but 4 times since 1948. So it's hardly a "bullshit" primary from that perspective.

On the Democratic side, the winner of New Hampshire has gone on to win the nomination about half of the time since 1952.

Now, what I see, based on a self-admitted addictive TV watcher, is that Americans have been conditioned to LOVE reality TV drama. The louder, more boorish behaviour, the more they will watch. Have you ever compared other countries versions of say...Masterchef, or Next Top Model, The Apprentice even? Its like night and day. One show it is all about the screaming and fighting and snide comments behind backs, the other countries take is about cooperation and support (for the most part). Is it any wonder that Survivor did not last too long in other countries versions? As that reality show is ALL about back-stabbing and lying.

Personally I recommend the Australian version of Masterchef. Its where the show started. Its a joy to watch. Its all about the food, not anger, belittling, or ostrisization. You get to know the best of the personalities, not the worst. I learn so much more on that version.

Now I'm not saying there are not assholes in every country. Just that the reigning TV execs in America have decided, deliberately to cast brash antagonistic characters. And now the American public is addicted to that. And mix that addiction with a celebrity mogul status like Trump?....who knows.

(If nominated) he may get a ton of new voters that will vote for him for name recongnition, for celebrity status, for just NOT being the typical politician. Add to that many Republicans that really really really want a firebrand "straight shooter" to represent the country. Diplomacy be damned! There is a huge sector that would LOVE to see something like the President of the United States publicly call Putin an ASS for instance....and I have to admit something about that even appeals to me.

Since she knows most of us would never visit the linked site, she gave us a quick synopsis, "the RNC/GOP are in a complete panic over the fact that they’ve created a GOPzilla monster and now it not only won’t die, but threatens to stomp the whole shebang into smoking burnt-turd ashes as it tears through the primaries." There was more, but that was the basic gist of the article.

Trump can stay in the race until he, personally, bores of it. Being shunned by the establishment, or the fringe, or both has zero impact on a guy with that much money. Trump can stay in this thing as long as he wants, and there isn't a damn thing anybody can do about it.
