Home prices made solid gains in May, according to a report released Tuesday, as the housing market increasingly appears to be regaining strength after a long, uneven recovery.

The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index, covering the entire nation, rose 4.4% in the 12 months ended in May, slightly greater than a 4.3% increase in April.

The 10-city and 20-city indexes saw similar increases in May as in April. The 10-city index gained 4.7% from a year earlier, slightly stronger than a 4.6% increase in April. The 20-city index gained 4.9% year-over-year, identical to the increase in April.

Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal expected a 5.7% increase to the 20-city index.

on the cheapskate (translation: OTA*) TV channels don't strike me as targeted at "the rich." Usually they emphasize how you need no money at all to cash in on real estate.

*Over the air. I.e., not via cable or satellite.

You know, like big old claw foot tubs, antique light fixtures, etc. and then they put in big box store crap, slap on a coat of paint and lay some cheap carpet and ask for fifty grand over what they paid for it.

"Hey,...lookie here. I put in a brand new CO2 detector." ($15)

We let 20+ million people stay hungry on food stamps and support this by policy so bank$ter/donors stay wealthy and don't go to jail.

What a fucked up country - along with the fucked up lying two-faced politicians that make it so.
