CNN/ORC poll: GOP voters want more Trump

Source: CNN

Most Republican voters want Donald Trump to remain in the race for president, and he's the candidate GOP voters are most likely to say they want to see on the debate stage, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll.

Trump, whose campaign for the presidency has come to dominate much of the news coverage of the Republican presidential field since he formally announced his candidacy in mid-June, remains a person Republican voters want to see more of, and a sizable 22% say they think he'll eventually win the party's nomination for president -- second only to Jeb Bush.

Among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents who are registered to vote, 52% say they want Trump to stay in the race for the party's nomination, while 33% hope that he drops out. Another 15% say they'd like to see him make an independent run for the presidency.

The CNN/ORC Poll is the first publicly-released national telephone poll to be conducted entirely after Trump talked about Senator John McCain's military record during an Iowa campaign event last weekend, drawing rebukes from Republicans for saying he didn't think McCain is a war hero.

Just so I can vote for Trump in the primaries. If wins the nomination, it will take years to undo the damage he inflicts on their party. It would be a beautiful thing.

that Trump is on the right track. Inevitably the clowns with start getting back into the car and he will be standing alone next to with the anointed party favorite, but until then he very well may continue riding high.

The way I see the field, it will either be Bush or Walker. But Trump has the ability to really screw with the process by throwing different states to different repubs, leading to a convention fight. I would love to see that.

We will know if the establishment is really panicked by Trump if they start spreading stories about him being too liberal, and ignoring him for debates. Who knows, they may want a convention fight as it would be an opportunity to really hand pick the nominee and extract further promises.

Great entertainment value to hear folks speak what's on their unfiltered minds. And Trump has that great value - like a stopped clock - he is right for for two moments in a very long day. (Walker and Wisconsin.)

...... which he is, but what they refuse to discuss is how all that racist, xenophobic, crazy sh*t he says is deeply popular among Republican voters. And listen to Scott Walker and the others -- it's standard fare among most of the Repug candidates.

Don't tell the GOP but if they had their debates on pay-per-view they could make millions. Maybe even bring Bachmann and pizza guy back for an added bonus. Heck, I'd watch it even if it wasn't an election year, you just can't script their kind of crazy.

I might even canvas for the Donald if it keeps Jebba-the-Hutt out of the nomination.

Make no mistake, if Bush the Third is nominated, all stops will be pulled, including conniving with the oil mafias to double gas prices, another "USS Cole" incident, or worse.
