152 Chinese get life term in Myanmar straining relations with China
Source: Times of India
China is raging after a court in northern Myanmar sentenced 152 Chinese nationals to life imprisonment for violating the law against destroying public properties. Most of them have been accused by the government prosecutor of illegal logging despite persistent pressure from Beijing against such a move.
The incident, which comes after Myanmar government's decision to stop some Chinese projects including a hydroelectricity dam, is expected to affect relations between the two countries ahead of general elections in Myanmar, sources said.
Illegal logging, a lot of which involve loggers from neighboring countries like China and Thailand, has been going on in Myanmar for many years.
But observers notice political overtones in the government's decision to prosecute so many Chinese loggers just two months after Beijing hosted and publicly praised Myanmar's opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.

(22,000 posts)Ok, how do you trick people in to carrying out logs?
China is asking another country to take their concerns seriously. Hmmm...have they listened to other countries? How about the concerns of South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam on their claim to the entire South China Sea (including areas that are within the boundaries of these countries)?
If you guess no, you would be correct.
Fuck you Lu Kang and fuck China!

(11,014 posts)Modi visited Myanmar earlier this year and Myanmar went from being pro-Beijing to pro-New Delhi with a rapid 180 deg turn.
Same thing is happening in Bangladesh and after India got regime change in Sri Lanka, the Chinese naval bases there are being dismantled.
Just a few months ago, Myanmar gave India permission to conduct cross-border raids to destroy China-funded terrorist camps. The terrorists have been causing trouble in NE India.
However, Pakistan remains a staunch ally for Chinese aggression in the region -- hopefully Balochistan will become independent in a few years and it will starve Pakistan.
Go Modi !!!!
