Poll: Most of American Jews think Congress should approve Iran deal
Source: Haaretz
Most American Jews want Congress to approve the deal reached between world powers and Iran over its nuclear program, a poll released on Thursday showed.
According to the poll, sponsored by the L.A. Jewish Journal, 53 percent of those surveyed said Congress should approve the deal, while 35 percent said Congress should oppose it, compared to 41 percent and 38 percent, respectively, in the general population.
In answer to the direct question "Do you support or oppose the Iran deal," however, 49 percent answered in the affirmative to 31 percent against.
According to the L.A. Journal, the survey's results reflect a significant divide between the positions of most of the main Jewish groups, such as AIPAC and many Jewish Federations, and the majority of U.S. Jews.
According to officials in the pro-Israel camp, AIPAC will deploy about 300 lobbyists on Capitol Hill next week to try to convince lawmakers, especially undecided Democrats, to vote against the deal.

Jews are more likely to support it than the general population, Jewish organizations, and of course Jewish Israelis.

(6,852 posts)That point gets missed a lot. I am Jewish. There is a joke in Jewish humor .... two jews, three opinions.
Or the way Monty Python put it.... it's the Judean Peoples Front vs The People Front of Judea

(5,300 posts)During World War 2, the Navy was searching for islands to use as reconnaissance bases. They find a small island with three huts on it. When they go in to investigate, a little old man comes out to greet them.
"Oh, thanks G-d you came.," he tells them. "I've been shipwrecked here for years."
"Well, we'll get you home, pops," they tell him. "Just as soon as we round up the other folks."
"What other folks?" the old man asks. "There's only me."
"Then why the three huts?" the Navy officer asks.
"Well, the first hut, that's mine house; I live there. The second hut, that's mine shul; I pray there."
"And the third hut?"
"Oh, that's my old shul; I don't go there anymore."
I heard a few different versions of that joke. But it's a good one.
