Shooting Reported During ‘Trainwreck’ Screening in Louisiana

Source: Variety

Two people are reportedly dead and at least six people have been injured after a shooting occurred inside a screening of “Trainwreck” in Lafayette, Louisiana.

The Daily Advertiser reports that the gunman was among the dead.

“We heard a loud pop we thought was a firecracker,” one witness told the newspaper.

The incident occurred at the Grand Theater.

According to reports, the man–described as an “older white male”– stood up about 20 mins into the screening and started firing at the audience. He later shot and killed himself.

(Still developing...)

about Judd Apatow. A radio talk show that I listen to sometimes mentioned that Apatow was pro-gun control, and one person on the show said that he was thinking about not seeing this movie because of Apatow's stance on gun control.

The talk show is called Walton & Johnson, and it runs on weekday mornings on a lot of stations in the South. It's supposed to be a comedy show, but it isn't very funny because they're always talking about how awful Democrats are and how much better the GOP is. I wouldn't be surprised if the shooter was a listener.

He had been on the move (car, motel) and prob. listened to the radio.

Yes, these jokers are on air in southern Louisiana loud and clear! But it's a morning show, I think.

Maybe ending about 10 or 11 CDT.

So he's driving across the South, hears W&J, stops at a motel, waits till evening (after reading local paper and checking out movies and times, drives to the Grand and makes his maniac statement.

I'd not be surprised . . .

the movie stars a woman who is getting a lot of good press, and it's a movie about a woman's dating escapades with sometimes doofus men who are the butt of the joke... I sort of expect we will learn that he began shooting when the audience started laughing at one of these dumb male characters. I think we'll learn he was into "men's rights" too.

I've always been emotional about these mass shooting, but when it happen in your own town (small city), it feels even more painful and confusing. I don't want to watch television now, but I know I'll not be able to turn away for days, maybe . . .

I hope I didn't know anyone there, but since The Grand 16 is the major movie-plex in the center of town, . . .

I know I'll have friends and colleagues who knew someone there.

Local interview of 13 year olds in adjacent theater broke my heart. The ran out and were confronted by the sight of bloody shooting victims. Will they ever be able to forget?

Damn.

What would be the difference if they were registered?

Furthermore, what would be the difference in the emotional quality of your day-to-day life if you didn't have a safe of unregistered AR 15s at hand?

I'm genuinely curious, since I absolutely no understanding of liking guns to that degree.

Registration would not impact my hobby. On the other hand, it would not make you safer. Let's not forget that the Sandy Hook shooter's rifle was registered. Registration will not stop mass shootings.
