Charles Barkley: Mitt Romney Is 'Going Down' In November

Source: Huffington Post

Former basketball star Charles Barkley weighed in on the presidential race during an NBA broadcast on Sunday night, saying that Democrats would "beat" presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney "like a drum in November."

Romney, who was at the playoff game between the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks with his wife Ann, was shown mingling with the crowd at Boston's TD Garden during a broadcast on TNT.

"We're going to beat you like a drum in November," Barkley said as the camera cut to the former Massachusetts governor. "Don't take it personally. You seem like a nice guy, but you're going down, bro."

Barkley, an analyst for TNT's NBA coverage who famously switched his allegiance from the Republican to Democratic party, is no stranger to political commentary. In December, he slammed the GOP presidential field, calling the potential nominees "idiots" who unfairly criticize President Obama.

it's hardly the same thing - one is bragging because he is proud of his president; the other brags because he is a gutless chickenhawk coward who appeals to teabagging assholes

It would be a totally false equivalence, nevertheless I would expect FOX to use something like this. The right will stop at nothing and certainly not "reason-ability" to smear our side as much as they can.

So Charles Barkley is considering a run for Governor of the Great State of Alabama -- as a Democrat.

"I used to be a Republican, before they lost their minds," Barkley was quoted as saying by the New York Post.

This would be true, but we do NOT. This is still going to be a squeaker, even if we clearly win the majority, becuse Tony Scalia already knows how to beat that.

You obvioiusly underestimate the stupidity of the typical voter in this country, especially in the red states. Can you
say Bush/Cheney? If it happened before it can definitely happen again.

...Charles Barkley's ability to predict what is going to happen in an NBA game is uncanny. For awhile there his pre-game and half-time guesses as to which team would win--and how--were dead on, particularly in the playoffs when it really counted.

So the joke is that if Barkley says it, it is going to happen, even if it is in Presidential politics.

The Lakers are up 3-1 over the Nuggets in a best of seven. Charles is an entertainer that knows and played NBA basketball and after that most anybody can predict the sun coming up tomorrow. The thing i watch is how much corporate owned news media invests trying to make it an 50/50 race to boost the amount and intensity of interest of their followers

Bynum is still standing under the rim, constitutes of illegal defenses which should have kicked him out a long time ago.

Well, yesterday was Baron Davis' turn. Now it's time for the Lakers to go down.

Nuggets will catch up, and take the series in 7.

That 3 after the Gallo clobber? Should NOT be counted and should have been Denver's ball at the FT line for Gallo.

Ref incorrectly called it clean - it was a flagrant foul 2.

Bynum is so big that it's almost impossible for him to move out of the paint (just check out how big his hat size is )

As for those players running into shoulders, elbows and such........ well its mostly their fault, they should just stay clear of those moving objects. Besides if they called all the fouls that actually happened the games would last five to ten times as long.

It was very late Saturday night during their wrap up, and the media seem to have missed it. One of his cohosts brought up Cinqo de Mayo, and Charles went off about the new immigration laws in AZ, MS, and GA, with a harsh call out of some of the Governors (I think - it was late). He told them to leave those "hard working people" alone. It was really great - I wish there was a video clip to share.

were he (as well as Chris Webber & "The Jet&quot spoke out forcefully against SB 1070.

However, the NBA skews heavily Democratic. There are a lot of Democrat owners, even the commissioner is a Dem though he is a jackass. The OKC Thunder ownership is Republican.
