Subway's Jared Fogle suspected in child pornography case

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- A law enforcement source has confirmed to CBS News that Subway restaurant spokesman Jared Fogle is a suspect in a federal child pornography investigation.

FBI agents and Indiana State Police were at Fogle's house in Zionsville, Ind., and have removed electronics from the property.

Fogle's attorney, Ron Elberger released a statement to CBS News on Tuesday afternoon.

"Jared has been cooperating, and continues to cooperate, with law enforcement in their investigation of unspecified charges and looks forward to its conclusion," Elberger said. "He has not been detained, arrested or charged with any crime or offense."

31. That would make sense, and I totally understand them needing to check it out.

Do to the nature of the investigation, it's not as if they could give him a heads up, or such either. If he's not guilty, the media won't really care, it won't generate the hits it would have if he'd been found to be a pedophile. Still, he's already being persecuted in public opinion. The way these things go from "investigating" to "guilty" in the blink of an eye bothers me.

If he's found to be involved, that's different, of course.

How was it there was media there at the initial stages of the investigation I wonder? It's not as if he's so high profile they'd be stalking his home at all times, or anything like that.

In a case such as this I think we want it to not be true, because it's so horrific. Which doesn't mean it isn't a reality in society. Sometimes reality just sucks.

He's the person who lost nearly 200 lbs by eating a diet that featured one Subway low-fat sandwich per day. He told the company what he had done, and they made him their spokesmodel. If you've been near one of their stores in the last...oh, ten years or so...you've seen his picture in the window. He just looks like a hundred other ordinary guys.

13. This is not exactly new for Jared.

When Jared was in college he had a business operating out of his dorm room which dealt in porn (presumably legal porn). There was a Subway shop on the first floor and he began to go there to get subs to eat so he could quickly get back to his room for his business. He did not want to miss any customers. He began noticing he was losing weight (he weighed 425) and eventually pitched a plan to Subway and the rest is history.
