Harry Shearer returning to The Simpsons

Simpsons fans will find this turn of events nothing short of excellent: Seven weeks after tweeting that he was exiting the animated comedy, EW has learned that Harry Shearerthe voice of Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Smithers and a flurry of other memorable charactershas agreed to rejoin Foxs forever-running animated comedy.
We repeat: Burns is back.
Shearer has signed the same contract as did the other five primary voice actorsDan Castellaneta, Yeardley Smith, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, and Hank Azariakeeping the shows original cast fully intact, EW has learned. These deals, which run for four seasons (including a network option for seasons 29 and 30), are estimated at more than $300,000 per episode. Fox recently renewed The Simpsons for a 27th and 28th season, which will bring its episode tally to 625.

I wonder if the show will keep going beyond 30 seasons, or if that will be the concluding point for the show.

(20,192 posts)The actors get paid big bucks because they are the ones that have made the show a success for 26 years. The show has stayed on for that long because it still makes lots of advertising bucks for the network. The producers rake in a lot of dough from the network and from reruns. Why shouldn't the actors share in the shows success?
