TTIP talks: Transparency call for EU-US trade disputes

Source: BBC

A proposed EU-US free trade deal must not give big firms the power to sue governments in private, secretive courts, the European Parliament says.

Investor-state disputes must be settled publicly and transparently, the parliament's new recommendations say.

The recommendations were redrafted after MEPs put forward more than 100 amendments. Fierce arguments continue over the trade deal, known as TTIP.
...
The EU Trade Commissioner, Cecilia Malmstroem, voiced support for the parliament's recommendations, calling the document "a vital basis for that negotiation".

We all know that no nation is going to stop that in the TPP.

Wow. Believe it or not, people outside of the US bubble know the TPP is bullshit too. Yet people on DU still support it.

I can think of a few right now. One of which I know is his job. His Blog depends on it.

by various Wall Street/corporate front groups. These talking points lists are in some ways very similar to the one I saw back in 1993 for the NAFTA debate and later the Uruguay Round GATT/WTO debate. If you will notice, they will often respond to a post in a matter of a couple of minutes with several paragraphs, links, and talking points defending their corporate masters. They just copy/paste their furnished propaganda stored on their computer.

I am kind of puzzled at the doggedly determined shilling - I think the agreements have been lavishly schmeared with K-Y Jelly, so all we can do, IMO, is to continue calling and emailing - but my set in stone plan is now to never vote for anyone who enabled this shit. Between the DINOs who voted YES, the politicians who helped write it and shilled and pushed for it, and the membership list of the New Democrat Coalition (because I do see how Pelosi must have figured out who could safely vote No, knowing the thing was going to pass anyway - I have my little list. There is not really anything a shill (or Obama) could do to induce me to vote for those people. Three "Dems" here in Florida. That's pretty much all I can really do, and I will do it, and also make sure that my family does it.

Obama sure sold us down the river and I'm sure his pet corporate negotiators will fight this tooth and nail. Hope they lose and the Europeans win or else we're toast.
