Union bricklayers agree to contract, ending strike

Source: Stl Today

The bricklayers union and the Mason Contractors Association reached a new labor contract over the weekend, ending a strike that began June 1.

A representative from Bricklayers Local 1 union said Monday that a six-year contract reached July 5 expires on June 1, 2021.

A key issue in the labor dispute was the contractors’ effort to change terms of the pension program. As part of the new contract, pensions were protected, the union said, and the contract provides an hourly increase in pay of $7.10 over the life of the agreement in incremental yearly steps.
