Greek MPs back referendum on bailout

Greece's parliament has approved controversial plans to hold a referendum on international creditors' terms for a bailout.

The vote, proposed by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, is set for 5 July.

On Saturday, eurozone finance ministers rejected a Greek request to extend the bailout programme beyond 30 June.

Greece has to pay €1.6bn (£1.1bn) to the IMF on Tuesday. Without new funds, there are fears Greece may leave the euro and its economy may collapse.

At that point, Greece's bank system collapses and there won't be a bailout to
vote on.

Greek voters won't be too happy when they realize what a sham this is.

Then again, that will be the least of their problems.
