Dallas employee poser gets Home Depot slammed over ‘randomly killing white people’ comment

Source: Dallas Morning News

Home Depot is being slammed on social media because a Dallas woman who claimed to be an employee posted on Facebook that she was “down for randomly killing white people” in response to the massacre of blacks at a Charleston, SC, church.

But the woman, Patrice Pace, 23, who is black, says she doesn’t actually work for Home Depot and was just joking on her personal page among her friends. The national chain confirmed it can’t find “any evidence” Pace has ever worked there.

She said Sunday that she didn’t know why she picked Home Depot. Just random, she said.

“Same reason it says I live in Jamaica, like, I don’t know,” she said. “I’m pretty sure Home Depot’s getting plenty of phone calls and looking through their employee list looking for Patrice Pace.”

Conservative radio host Wayne Dupree posted this screenshot of Patrice Pace’s comments that sparked a backlash against Home Depot, which says Pace has never worked for them.

Wayne Dupree - the Right Wing Version of Uncle Tom's Cabin - had nothing else to do but scroll Facebook and find this random fake FB poster statements. Now who would actually said such a thing on Social Media, Facebook and as a PUBLIC POST on FB and mean it. No one.

Now the statement by the Faux Facebook Poster is Stupid and Ignorant - no doubt - however, Wayne Dupree was seeking five minutes of attention and got played because of it.

Oh, and also caused Home Depot to receive a Mount Everest amount of calls and complaints for a "person" not working at the chain in the first place.

If this was a white person from any walk of life talking about killing blacks this OP would have 300 hits. This person wasnt "joking", she would love to be able to do just what she said. But we have DUers who refuse to believe that there are some black people who are just as disgusting as some white people and just as racist.
Both are disgusting

this was a poor excuse for a joke, not a threat. Be honest: how many black racist mass murderers can you bring to mind?

give it a break will you. Calm down, you're way too emotional about this, stress is a killer you know. Just ask all the AA people who had to experience the shootings this week. Fear can be hell, can't it?

her second tweet was the god awful truth. The first, the passion of youth driven by anger. That's all. People need to calm down on here. All this fear showing over her intemperate remarks. At least she didn't walk in to a methodist church somewhere, sit down for an hour with white parishioners, pray with them and then kill them.

the intemperance, passion of youth. She's angry and like I did eventually, she'll probably grow out of it. The second tweet, I have no problem with, it's truth. Nothing ignorant or racist about it. I agree wholeheartedly with her second tweet. What's the problem?

My ass. Social media is a very influential tool; this ignorant bigot's words could very well incite some kind of racial violence just like the hateful rhetoric inspired Roof to shoot up a black church. There are way too many radicals and maniacs on the internet who would love nothing more than to "buss" up a Starbucks or some other public place and actually kill somebody.

Don't give her a pass cause she was some extra melanin; her joke was tasteless considering what's goin on out in the real world and invalidated anything she said afterwards.

Though it is not very mature to post threats and work location, even 'fibs' on PUBLIC social media sites like face book.

Millions of people like "Conservative radio host Wayne Dupree" watch your every move. They use search for key words to find what they're looking for.

Where a non-public person can have something they write or say quasi-privately can become national or global news and have people calling their employers over it to try and get to lose their jobs.

I don't think this bodes well for a society.

Where people can say anything and most contextual clues (like visual an audible indicators of a joke) are lost.

Also the hive mind. The Internet backfills whatever thoughts people already have and any hit of confirmation of preconceived notions are taken as fact right away and tend to go viral from there.

And that's how some random person, making a tasteless joke, and falsely claiming employment, becomes a PR nightmare for a company.

The Internet is full of stupid.
