Texas firefighter terminated after comment praising Charleston murders

Source: KLTV

MABANK, TX (KLTV) - Social media is far-reaching, and what gets posted there can often return to haunt those who say things that are considered objectionable. An East Texas firefighter is now experiencing this after being fired for his alleged post on Facebook.

Mabank volunteer firefighter Kurtis Cook reportedly posted on a South Carolina newspaper's Facebook page that the confessed Charleston church shooter, Dylann Roof, "needs to be praised for the good deed he has done." Roof is alleged to have shot and killed nine people who were in a Bible study class at the historic Charleston Emanuel AME Church.

His post was shared across social media, calling for people to call the Mabank Fire Department asking to have the volunteer removed from the department. Mabank Fire Department leaders said, on social media, that they were investigating the allegations on Friday morning.

Less than an hour after that statement was posted on the department's Facebook page, they posted again, this time saying that Cook had been terminated from his volunteer position.

I ask because how would one know by his statements if there was a fire and the inhabitants
are people of color, would he save them..would he do all a firefighter is trained to do?

I believe that any occupation he may become involved with should think about that.

Fuck him, btw..piece of garbage.

Jasper is in East Texas too. Their claim to fame is the horrific dragging murder of James Byrd.

I found Kurtis on whitepages.com . He's lived in Greenville, SC, Ft. Worth, TX, Lawrenceville, GA and Dacula (that's Dracula - r), GA.
