White House threatens veto for defense spending bill in Senate

Source: Reuters

The White House on Thursday said President Barack Obama's advisers would recommend a veto of a U.S. Senate bill to fund the Department of Defense if lawmakers pass it, saying it uses gimmicks to get around budget caps.

The bill "ignores the long-term connection between national security and economic security and fails to account for vital national security functions carried out at non-defense agencies," the White House said.

is the dictionary definition of "gimmick".

Obama once again proves his liberal bond fides, apparently he has to all over again to and for a few.

"How liberal have you been, for me, lately?" is a fair summary of the outcry.

Time for Obama to follow through on at least that promise. The question is, will he?

After screwing us by advancing the TPP yet further?

Honestly though, based on the headline, and the hard-ass turn right of this presidency, I'd of thought the WH thought there wasn't enough military spending in that bill.

Of course in my opinion if its passed it will probably end up like the last few trade deals which have ended up fucking over 99% of the american people but thats just my opinion.
Anyway as for this veto threat, I hope he follows through if they push for this BS bill.

President Obama wanted a base defense budget of $534 billion in 2016 exceeding by $35 billion the mandatory across-the-board reductions known as sequestration.

Separately, Mr. Obama wanted an additional $51 billion to pay for operations in the conflicts in Iraq and Syria, as well as the continued American military presence in Afghanistan.

President Obama's objection to the current bill is what is called "straining at a gnat."
