Clinton, in NH, calls for universal preschool, chides GOP

Source: Union-Leader

Hillary Clinton called for universal preschool Monday while accusing Republicans of "missing the boat" on the importance of early childhood education.

Clinton made her remarks at a forum at the Rochester YMCA, the first of three events in New Hampshire as she seeks to shift her Democratic presidential campaign into a higher gear.

Clinton, answering a question on funding for education, criticized Republicans.

"Republican leaders aren’t just missing the boat on early childhood education they are trying to sink it," she said. "In their budget proposal they cut funding for Head Start. Did they cut subsidies oil companies? No. Did they go after carried interest for those running hedge funds? No. The leaders took care of those at the top and went after the kids.”

This makes me think that Castro is a likely candidate for VP because early education, specifically pre-kindergarten, was an issue that he pressed, pushed and passed while mayor of San Antonio.

This would provide good jobs for young people.

In high school and college, I worked summers as an aide in pre-schools. That prepared me as a mother and taught me to be an adult. When you work with children, you become the adult. That is how I grew up. It was a great experience for me, and I hope the children benefited too. My own children and grandchildren are certainly benefiting.

This is a great proposal.

We need free college too, especially for undergraduates, but also for talented graduate students.

It is seriously needed.
Unfortunately, Greg Abbott & his corrupt government felt such a thing was unaffordable & well, just not profitable enough for his deep pocket cronies to address.

I would be interested in hearing the GOP respond to Clinton & especially Jeb.
Bush's are Texas heroes to repukes in this redder than a babboon's ass kinda State.
Babboo 's are much smarter however, well except for GW.

Her time with the Children's Defense Fund carries over many years later...

I'd like to see someone say the don't "trust her" on this one...
