Wisconsin Abortion Ban Would Allow Father To Sue For Emotional Distress

Source: HuffingtonPost

Posted: 06/03/2015 12:04 pm EDT Updated: 3 hours ago

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) said this week that he would sign a ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy that does not contain exceptions for rape and incest victims, if the bill reaches his desk. The measure also contains a less-discussed provision that would allow the father to sue the doctor for "emotional and psychological distress" if he disagrees with the abortion, regardless of his relationship with the woman having the procedure.

............ If the bill becomes law, doctors who perform an abortion after this time could be charged with a felony and fined up to $10,000, or face up to three and a half years in prison.

.......

Opponents of the bill point out that less than 1 percent of abortions occur after 20 weeks, and the women who seek them have often discovered severe medical problems with the fetus that were not clear in earlier tests. Marcy Stech, a spokeswoman for the progressive women's PAC EMILY's List, said the Wisconsin bill is "extreme, outrageous and profoundly wrong."

"A woman’s right to choose is hers and hers alone," Stech said. "Scott Walker is the last person on earth who should be telling women how to make their deeply personal decisions."

All rightwing thinking males hate women, or at a minimum fear, distrust and dislike them.

I say hate to encompass all 3.

Their mothers and wives and sisters are loved but with conditions and in that way where control is a major feature.

This isnt hard to prove to yourself, simply talk to ANY rightwing male about Women in general, you will NOT find one who doesnt have these negative feelings.

If the word "hate" bothers you, then you can use the other 3.

I do talk to them, I live in Arkansas. I live and work with MAJORITY right wing thinkers everyday and they are just people, not some sinister lurking bogeyman. Turning political opponents into "evil inhuman enemies" is what causes civil wars, death camps, and genocides. Ignorance does not equal some sinister intent.

They want a return to the good old days when they could keep "their better half" (yeah right) in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant.

The ideal woman for them is that Duggar woman.

"You're going to have my baby if it kills you or else the whole state will know about the abortion and a doctor will lose his/her license. If you go to the doctor, what happens to him/her is your fault."

Really it's just a scheme to drive doctors out of the state. The anti-women groups will find a 'grieving' abusive asshole to file a lawsuit.

The only lives these people care about are those they can meddle in.

on an anti-women, anti-healthcare, anti-labor, etc. agenda, and yet they have won local, state, and congressional elections on that platform. If it is all about turnout, there is no excuse for someone not voting. However, if it is about vote stealing then what is being done about it? We knew there were problems since 2000

On the other hand I do see where Democrats are trying to do something about it:

Democrats Challenge Voter Restrictions in Battleground States

Democrats allied with Hillary Rodham Clinton are mounting a nationwide legal battle 17 months before the 2016 presidential election, seeking to roll back Republican-enacted restrictions on voter access that Democrats say could, if unchallenged, prove decisive in a close campaign.

We tend to think equality on the DU and the rest of the US does not operate as we do. Those with the money are rich white men and, of course, they are anti-female, anti-gay, anti-elderly and anti-anyone who is not one of them.

These rich white men are the sources for money which supports those of the RW in the local elections. Also: Once they are in, talk about gerrymandering. Districts are now drawn to give the D-candidate in swing states the worst possible odds. Thank you to the Repuke governors and legislatures in these states.

JMHO...

to monitor the way the nasty woman raises the child they are forcing her to deliver, until he/she is 21, of even older, to make sure she is always deferential to the child, and never cross, until she has seen it make its way into the world, and always remains available for anything he/she might ask of her after that.

Of course she must allow unlimited visiting from the rapist, or family member who favored her with the pregnancy, as well.

Last, she must donate mass quantities of money to Republicans whenever they run for office as tribute for their having shown her the way they wanted her to go.
