Source: AP
NEW YORK (AP) New York City police say the hate crime task force is now investigating the case of a transgender woman who was shoved onto the subway tracks.
Authorities say the 28-year-old woman was pushed around 9 a.m. Monday as she stood on the southbound platform at the Bleecker Street station in Greenwich Village.
Police say a man approached her and said "What are you looking at?"
They say he then grabbed a plastic bottle from a garbage bin, threw it at her and pushed her to the tracks.

Behind the Aegis
(53,961 posts)Crimes against the transgender are ever increasing. I am unsure if it is because more crimes are happening or because it is finally being treated/acknowledged as a crime.
The first comment to the story (at the link) was nauseating.

(6,852 posts)Also news travels much faster due to today's technology so that might also be a reason we are hearing about it more.
Behind the Aegis

(2,586 posts)I'm surprised dude didn't get into why minorities and gays are afforded special rights as well. Some people don't understand what discrimination is, sadly (and the reason why those laws exist in the first place).
Zight
(45 posts)Because several cis-gender people have been pushed to the tracks by people who were apparently simply nuts.
Sometimes we forget there are crazy people in the world.
