(8,747 posts)Is what he should receive, IMO. I have not the slightest shred of empathy or compassion for someone who would torture and murder four people, including a child. There is no excuse for his crimes. none.

(Wint) ordered Domino's Pizza while he allegedly held the family and their housekeeper hostage overnight...
That suggests that his DNA is on file, which in turn suggests that Wint must have had a previous record.
...(I)nvestigators believe Wint, a certified welder, once worked for American Ironworks, the company that Savopoulos founded.
The video says Wint worked there "back in 2005." Ten years later, he suddenly needs $40K so desperately he resorts to home invasions and mass murder? Can't wait to hear why he was fired...
(B)orn in Guyana, he immigrated to the United States 15 years ago and joined the Marine Corps...He received an honorable discharge for medical reasons, but never finished boot camp...(I)n Oswego, NY...between 2006 and 2008, (he) was booked in the county jail on three occasions, but each time the charges against him were dropped...Wint was convicted of second-degree assault in 2009, and pleaded guilty a year later to malicious destruction of property both times in Maryland.
In 2010, he was arrested outside the American Iron Works headquarters in Maryland with a BB pistol and a 2-foot-long machete, but the weapons charges were dropped when he pleaded guilty to possessing an open container of alcohol...
"He doesn't listen," his stepmother...told ABC News. " (H)e thinks he knows the law...Everywhere he goes there's an argument... very arrogant."...Robin Ficker, a defense attorney who represented Wint for minor criminal and traffic cases, said... "My impression of him I remember him rather well is that he wouldn't hurt a fly. He's a very nice person."

(2,868 posts)Wow....biggest douche candidate every year since 1984.
Ficker became famous for having seats behind the Visiting team bench during Bullets\Wizards games at the Cap Center (later USAir Arena and then torn down) - he would heckle the visiting team throughout the game. He is a complete jackass - I have some long standing personal ties with him...so I can attest he is a jerk in real life and on paper.
This sounds like a very inside job - someone knew the victim was getting a large sun of money and let this piece of human garbage in on the secret.

(2,868 posts)...you can bet any department will throw the entire weight of the force behind the investigation.
However, not every murder is this gruesome...it is understandable that they would deem this one especially egregious and look to close quickly.

(131,200 posts)a deputy sheriff in MD and member of US Marshall's service, was among the officers searching for this guy. I don't know how close he was to the find, but did learn that he hasn't seen much of the family, or slept, recently, due to this effort.

(23,340 posts)one of the more interesting nut cases to enter politics, and the law.
In 1990, Ficker was publicly reprimanded by the Maryland Court of Appeals upon a finding that he had violated ethical rules prohibiting neglect, engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice, and lack of diligence. In March, 1998, he was indefinitely suspended from the practice of law, with the right to reapply for admission after 120 days, arising from violations related to competence, diligence, fairness to opposing counsel and parties, supervising lawyers and conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice. In August, 1998, he was privately reprimanded by the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission for a violation related to competence. In January, 2002, he was privately reprimanded by the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission for a violation related to client communications. Ficker was again indefinitely suspended from the practice of law in 2007. A dissenting judge in the latest suspension commented, "If disbarment is not warranted in this case for these types of issues, with a respondent with this history, it will never be warranted." Ficker's law license was reinstated on December 8, 2008. Ficker became a real estate broker with his own company, Robin Realty, in 2008.[5]
and his outstanding career as a sports heckler.
Though many players from opposing teams were aware of Ficker,[36] Phoenix Suns star Charles Barkley in particular thought so much of him that he flew him out to Phoenix during the 1993 NBA Finals. Barkley bought Ficker a ticket directly behind the bench of the visiting Chicago Bulls with the intent that Ficker's taunts would distract the Bulls players. Ficker did not last the first quarter before being removed by America West Arena security.[37]
