George Zimmerman: Defense team launches new site

Source: Orlando Sentinel

George Zimmerman's defense attorney has established a new website, Facebook and Twitter accounts to provide details about the high-profile, controversial case.

On gzlegalcase.com, attorney Mark O'Mara acknowledges that it is "unusual for a legal defense to maintain a social media presence on behalf of a defendant, but we also acknowledge that this is a very unusual case."

Zimmerman is charged with killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin at a Sanford neighborhood Feb. 26. Zimmerman claims the shooting was in self-defense.

On the website, the Orlando veteran attorney said he contends social media cannot be ignored today.

that this is a good idea. But, on the other hand they might just do something to make the prosecutors job easier.

Zimmy has himself one expensive defense attorney who wants his money sooner rather than later,,, if he waits he'll never get it.

The money he has received and will receive is from republican racists, not for defense but as a reward for killing an African American.

everyone accused of a crime no matter how serious is entitled to a good and competent legal defense. If it costs a lot of money for such a defense then they have to try to find the money to pay for it and having a social media presence might help.

Is Bradley Manning profiting from breaking the law? He has a defense fund.

But I'll have a big problem with it if he uses it to step up his attempts to taint the jury pool. I don't see how he can raise money from the nuts without racist screeds. They're the only ones that will contribute.

He's entitled to a defense? He should have never pulled the trigger to begin with. He's brought all if it upon himself.

A gag order. This case has had enough publicity already without adding this into the mix. In fact, I would think that the Judge would be steaming about this.

Of course nobody should ever commit any kind of violent crime. Yet under our system as I said before everyone, no matter how egregious the crime, is entitled to a defense. That's a pretty easy concept to understand to me.

And merely soliciting funds for his defense is not necessarily tantamount to tainting the jury pool. And that's a two way street. He detractors may not attempt to taint the jury pool either and as we know there are some people who already have him tried, convicted, and ready to hang from the nearest oak tree.
