Five Georgia nursing students died on their way to a training session in a seven-vehicle crash that also left three people injured, including two other nursing students, authorities said on Thursday.

Unimaginable tragedy. Why does this kind of thing happen to good people? The older I get, the less I am able to process this kind of thing. RIP.

(13,620 posts)blood drives. I very rarely have a situation where I'm driving sleepy. Even if that is a concern, coffee/energy drinks will always get me 30 or so miles down the road. I don't drive any long distances. You never mean to and sometimes don't even realize you didn't sleep all that well the night before. I hope that wasn't what was going on with the truck driver that killed them, though I don't know what other possible cause would be any better.
I hate seeing all the trucks on the road in general. I think it's a huge mistake to not still be using rail for everything possible. All those trucks out there makes this kind of accident all that more likely.
