Indictments May Be Near in George Washington Bridge Scandal

Source: New York Times

It has been falsely predicted many times in the last year, but now it seems to be true: The federal investigation into the lane closings at the George Washington Bridge appears to be coming to a head, with an announcement of indictments as early as next week.

In recent weeks, people close to the case say, federal investigators have interviewed members of the Borough Council in Fort Lee, N.J., the town gridlocked when its three lanes accessing the bridge were narrowed to one for several days in September 2013 — a move at first bewildering, and later revealed to be the result of orders from aides and allies of Gov. Chris Christie.

The interviews were said to be largely perfunctory, the kind of t-crossing that investigators would do before wrapping up.

Subpoenas have made it clear that the inquiry has gone beyond the lane closings to include possible conflicts of interest and bribery. But the United States attorney for New Jersey, Paul J. Fishman, has said little about it, beyond that any news reports purporting to say what he was doing were “most likely wrong.”

SCHADENFREUDE: experiencing perverse pleasure in the discomfort of some other, e.g., an enemy.

Gandhi would scold me for this but, honestly, I just can't help it. One's humanity is encumbered by certain weaknesses, and this he understood.

he is so obnoxious and so obviously takes pleasure in the discomfort of others.

Christie can only survive if his aides are willing to go to jail rather than implicate Christie. I am betting that we will see a number of aides flip on Christie

inside the NJ State and Federal Inv. offices so has probably has known whats coming through out the investigation. I am not sure he ever wanted to be president anyway, he would have to behave part human as president and that is one over eating so he doesn't feel emotional greedy bastard. He will move into DC as a lobbiest after his term as gov is over. But I did see Sampson retired and they removed his name from the company Tuesday so he is probably going to be the fall guy so his buddy Christie can still have a career and not have to wear an orange suit. Sampson may of been part of that Bridge closer to try and push out a real estate competitor. Bet we find out next week and get to see the ruling class keep doing what they do, because they are the ruling class.

I am not hearing/reading/viewing anything about indictments for that. What happened to all the $$$ he did not give to his political opponents who needed the fed $$ to help their people?
