Warren: Schumer has fought 'on the front lines' with me
Source: The Hill
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said she has fought side by side with Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on a range of issues, as she heaped praise on the New Yorker who appears poised to become the top Democrat in the Senate.
Warren dismissed the idea that Schumer was too closely affiliated with the financial industry in a recent NPR interview, undercutting the notion that she could lead any liberal discontent with Schumer due to his ties to the financial industry.
Warren credited Schumer with being one of the first lawmakers to embrace the idea of a consumer watchdog agency that was Warrens idea. That idea would eventually become the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Warren said that Schumer was critical in making that a reality.
Chuck was one of the first people to support the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, she said on WBURs Here & Now. Hes been out there on the front lines.

(31,879 posts)And I was a strong on the ground canvasser for him when I lived in NY. My parents were big contributors to him. Anyone other than Al as my dad would say.
But he's not right for America now. Nothing to do with Wall Street - and everything to do with people who wait tables and swing hammers and clean hotel rooms.
He's not the right person for those people. I don't think people who don't have 401Ks really care about Wall Street - that's a middle class and higher concern. People who work their fingers and toes and knees to the bone need more money coming in every week.
He was awesome in the 1990's when we still had a strong middle class - but we don't have that anymore.
I will toe the line if he's the next leader - but I'm making clear to Booker I don't agree with Schumer.
