@AP: BREAKING: Pharmacists association adopts policy discouraging members from providing death penalty drugs.

Pharmacists' group discourages providing execution drugs

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A national pharmacists' group has adopted a policy discouraging its members from providing death-penalty drugs.

The American Pharmacists Association's new policy could make it tough for death penalty states, like Texas, that have been looking at made-to-order execution drugs from compounding pharmacies as the answer to an execution drug shortage.

The association's governing body approved the policy Monday at a meeting in San Diego.

The group lacks the legal authority to bar compounding pharmacies from selling the drugs. But its policies set the ethical standards followed by pharmacists, just as the American Medical Association does for doctors.

By the way. Sorry I forgot that.

I love this news. Just scares me because the states that have the death penalty will just go outside the US and continue using bad drugs that cause major undue suffering. And sometimes, don't work

We can cheer when it's capital punishment, but it paves the way for pharmacists -- perhaps under the guise of religious freedom -- to deny drugs to people trying to exercise their rights under assisted dying laws where it's legal or for drugs to terminate a pregnancy.

Also, it will lead some of the less enlightened states to try more torturous ways of conducting ritual state killing, leading to more suffering.

We need to just end capital punishment period.
