45 dead in air strike on Yemen displaced camp

An air strike killed dozens of people at a camp for displaced people in northwest Yemen on Monday, aid workers said, as Arab warplanes bombard rebels around the country.
The International Organization for Migration said 45 internally displaced people had been killed and 65 wounded at the Al-Mazrak camp in Hajja province.
IOM spokesman Joel Millman told AFP that the organisation had 75 staff on hand assisting the victims.
Earlier Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said 15 dead bodies and 30 wounded were taken to a hospital where it operates near the Al-Mazrak camp.

(84,711 posts)The Al-Mazrak camp has since 2009 been housing Yemenis displaced by the conflict between northern Huthi rebels and the central government.
The manager of the MSF programme in the Middle East, Pablo Marco, said 500 new families had arrived at the camp over the past two days.

IMO, the Saudis will push Yemen into the Gulf of Aden and show no mercy to the people.

(2,161 posts)Bandar Bush told the world that the Sunnis were 'fed up' with the Shiites and would just get rid of them.
Now, it's happening, with the support of the US. The Saudis couldn't lift a pinky to fight ISIS, but can manage hundreds of bombing runs to slaughter Shiites in Yemen.
The US also stood by and watched approvingly as the Bahraini Sunni monarchy oppressed, jailed, and put down a rebellion by the Shiite population in Bahrain.
Bring the 5th Fleet home from Bahrain, bring all US troops home from the region.

(13,184 posts)I mean, who better to align ourselves with than a bunch of sadistic, medieval monarchies (Saudi, GCC), military thug states (Egypt, Pakistan), and international war criminals (Sudan)? I feel all warm and fuzzy.

(2,161 posts)But sadly not too surprising.
On foreign policy ONLY, Ron Paul was the candidate I agreed with. Close the 700 plus US overseas military bases and Bring the Troops Home. Of course I didn't vote for Paul because of his whacko stances on domestic issues, but I agreed with him 100% on foreign and military policy.

A Saudi military spokesman said the kingdom was seeking clarification on the incident.
"It could have been that the fighter jets replied to fire, and we cannot confirm that it was a refugee camp," Brigadier General Ahmed Asseri said.
"We will ask the Yemeni official agencies to confirm that," he told reporters.
