Businesses and entertainers are vowing to pull events out of Indiana after the governor signed a bill into law that gives business owners the right to refuse to serve gay and lesbian customers.
On Thursday, Gov. Mike Pence signed the state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act in a private, closed-door ceremony.
Hillary Clinton was among the high profile critics of the bill, which opponents argue will allow people to use their religious beliefs as a defence if they are sued for denying service to customers who are gay.
Gov. Pence dismissed criticism of the bill as misunderstanding of what the legislation does. "This bill is not about discrimination, and if I thought it legalized discrimination in any way in Indiana, I would have vetoed it," Pence said in his statement Thursday.

7 Entities That May Boycott Indiana Over New LGBT Discrimination Law
In the wake of Gov. Mike Pence (R-IN) signing a law that essentially allows discrimination against gay and lesbian people in the state, companies are starting to consider pulling their business from the state.
Though Pence has tried to insist that the law is about religious liberty and not discrimination against LGBT discrimination in the state, that doesnt seem to wash with many in the state including the Chamber of Commerce, which has said the law will bring unwanted attention to the state. Many high-profile companies and entities that host major events in the state are starting to reconsider their business.

Yelp
Following the signing of the law, the crowd-sourcing review site released a statement saying, it is unconscionable to imagine that Yelp would create, maintain, or expand a significant business presence in any state that encouraged discrimination by businesses against our employees, or consumers at large.
Yelp also threatened to boycott Arizona when it was considering passing similar legislation last year, and mentioned that it would have a similar position on Arkansas if it passes legislation that it is debating that would enable discrimination.
Salesforce
Today we are canceling all programs that require our customers/employees to travel to Indiana to face discrimination, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff tweeted, pointing to a CNN story in which it said that it would halt all efforts to expand to the state.

(14,337 posts)they can refuse to serve us? Are you against FAMILIES, Indiana? So if my husband goes out to Lunch with a gay coworker, or business client, these religious bigots can refuse to serve them?
Take it a step further. What would happen if I wore a Pentagram tshirt to their restaurant? Throw me out for that because Paganism is against THEIR religion? Hey, that is not your SPOUSE! Adultery is against MY religion!
Just imagine the possibilities that might offend somebody's religion? Carte Blanch to discriminate.

While the state of Indiana is taking a beating across the country for passing the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, allowing businesses and individuals to deny services to gays on religious grounds, Governor Mike Pence has come in for an extra heaping of scorn on social media.
In a speech following the signing of the bill, Pence defended his actions saying, If I thought it legalized discrimination I would have vetoed it. Across the country many disagreed with the governor, once believed to harbor national aspirations, and expressed themselves bluntly.
A host of celebrities, including Broadway star Audra McDonald, Larry King, Harvey Fierstein, Miley Cyrus, and popular Indiana-based author John Green took shots at the governor, while others jumped on Pences Twitter account to express their contempt and displeasure with his decision to sign the bill into law.
A sampling of comments below Pences Twitter announcement of the signing the bill attended by a group of observers he has, thus far, refused to identify by name:
