BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (AP) A Bloomsburg University baseball player has been dismissed from the team for an offensive Twitter post about Little League World Series star Mo'Ne Davis.
The user account belonging to Joey Casselberry had been deactivated as of Saturday night, but screen captures of the tweet show that the player used an offensive word while criticizing news that a Disney Channel movie was being made about Davis.
Casselberry made reference to Davis' loss to Nevada during the LLWS.

(7 posts)Sounds like Joey Casselberry is bullying a kid. Shameful. Too many people hid behind screen names on social media.

(12,778 posts)Was it just men's rooms walls, though? I bet there were a few dirty words in the ladies' rooms too.

(12,159 posts)It would have been thought unseemly for me to enter a ladies' room, much less to take time to read the graffiti. I can hear the shrieks echoing in my mind as I write this. ( I just love that "goodbye cruel world" flushing down the toilet smilie)

(15,355 posts)Twitter is at least open about what it records for posterity.
Facefook is less obvious but still keeps everything, as does google, and probably your ISP (and maybe DU.)
A bathroom wall can be scrubbed, you are probably anonymous, and it is only seen by a few. The social media can't be scrubbed, your name, friends, likes/hatreds, sex/etc. are known and recorded. There were recently articles about how any queries you might make to health web sites (including some .gov ones) are being scraped for your info.
Be careful.

(129,543 posts)to showcase, Mo'Ne fit the bill and deserved the praise. I have been concerned about her, as our local Philly phenomena, suddenly being thrust into the national spotlight. But so far, she and her family have weathered it well.
The "social media" phenomena has propelled a whole generation of youngsters into a minefield by encouraging them to share what were once considered "private inner thoughts", by blasting them out to the world. They are now facing the consequences of that and learning a hard lesson that echos "the old folks'" saying about not airing dirty laundry and keeping one's thoughts to themselves.
