Dems block trafficking bill for third time

Source: The Hill

March 19, 2015, 01:24 pm

Democrats on Thursday blocked progress on a bill meant to crack down on human trafficking for a third time, but there were signs a deal could be in the works.

In a 56-42 vote, the Senate failed to move forward on the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, which Democrats oppose because of abortion language.

Sens. Bob Casey (D-Pa.), Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) again voted with Republicans to move forward on the legislation.

Thursday's vote was widely expected to fail. Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday morning that Republicans wouldn't get the votes needed to move forward. "The result will be the same," Reid said, adding that the votes are "a waste of time."

These "reporters" either totally neglect, or else hide deep in the article, the fact that Democrats object to language hidden in the bill intended to cut women's choices on reproductive health.

The GOPers don't want trafficked women who are impregnated by their rapists to be able to get abortions.

Sure, a few thousand liberals here and there and a few million American Taliban, America hating TeaParTY (hate America until she is white again) are paying attention, but nobody else.

9. Republicans put a stronger version of the Hyde amendment in the bill.

So tighter funding restrictions, and since it's a "normal" law it would have to be repealed instead of passed every year like the Hyde amendment.

Trafficking Act has a poison-pill that won't allow victims of sex trade trafficking to get an abortion paid for by the government. How is that justice for victims of sex trafficking??

I'm happy to read that Democrats are not being fooled and have filibustered that heinous bill for a third time. Remove that provision, you women-hating Neo-Confederate Taliban!

mention of it in a memo to Democrats indicating the changes from the original bill passed in Commitee, returned from the legislative lawyers.

Just slipped it in and then LIED about it's existence....the media forgets to mention that as well, as Senator Boxer clearly pointed out in the Senate floor...crickets from the media.

The headline title from RW The Hill sucks, of course it does, blame must be shared equally.......

Second best is feeding their voters BS sandwiches and making them believe Liberals want to take away their BS sandwiches. Therefore the patriotic thing to do is fight for more BS sandwiches!
