White House slams McConnell on Lynch confirmation delay
Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS
WASHINGTON (AP) The White House is blasting Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for holding up a confirmation vote for Loretta Lynch to be attorney general.
McConnell has warned he wont hold a vote before the Senate finishes a human trafficking bill. That legislation hit a roadblock over a provision regarding funding for abortions.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Monday its an unconscionable delay that reflects failed Republican leadership. He says its a sign that McConnells leadership is not off to a very strong start.
Earnest is also questioning whether Obama can trust McConnells word. Hes accusing McConnell of playing politics with the nomination. But the White House wont say whether Obama would sign the bill with the abortion provision included. Earnest says Republicans dont currently have the votes to pass it.

(67,782 posts)....it's been all over "the media" ever since. In fact, they're discussing it on "The Cycle" on MSNBC at this very moment!

(23,946 posts)Because that is not in the AP news aggregator. Nor is the why of holding up the Lynch nomination
to please the Tea Party, nor is broken promises on the Lynch vote because of the ambush, nor is why the GOP Congress always has "scheduling problems".
Leaving stuff out is as important to propaganda as putting stuff in.

Last I heard, they were all part of the dreaded "media".

(3,544 posts)to me, that in order to get rid of a problem, you have to remove it during the election. How this guy got re elected is beyond me. Until he's elected out, it's the SOS-DD with turtle brain. Nothing will ever change.

(7,814 posts)dem leaders and pundits ignore the LONG, DESPICABLE RECORD OF GOP STUNTS EVERY TIME ANOTHER HOSTAGE-TAKING HAPPENS? McConnell's tantrum is just the latest in 6 years of this kind of thing...starting, IIRC, with holding government funding hostage until Planned Parenthood was defunded...Acorn too....and food stamps....and unemployment insurance...etc....etc.
The FIRST THING that should be discussed when the GOP threatens pull this again is HOW MANY of these have occurred and exactly how many people have been harmed and exactly how much money has been wasted...and how much money a lower credit rating has cost every one of us because congress can't solve problems.
