GOP TO OFFER BUDGET BLUEPRINT WITH MEDICARE, FOOD STAMP CUTS

Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

BY ANDREW TAYLOR

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republicans now in charge of Congress offer their budget blueprint this week with the pledge to balance the nation's budget within a decade and rein in major programs such as food stamps and Medicare.

More pressing for many Republicans, however, is easing automatic budget cuts set to slam the military. The chairmen of the House and Senate Budget panels plan to release their budget plans this week - the House on Tuesday and the Senate on Wednesday. The nonbinding measure called a budget resolution sets broad parameters on taxes and spending; it requires follow-up legislation later this year to implement its balanced-budget goals, and Republicans are unlikely to take on that task as long as President Barack Obama occupies the Oval Office.

House Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price, R-Ga., and Senate Budget Committee Chairman Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., plan to produce blueprints that would balance the budget within 10 years - without raising taxes.

Instead, they will propose major spending cuts to programs such as Medicare, health care subsidies, food stamps and the Medicaid program for the poor and elderly to produce a budget that's balanced. Such cuts, if actually implemented later, would likely slash spending by $5 trillion or so over the coming decade from budgets that are presently on track to spend almost $50 trillion over that timeframe.

People in North Carolina ARE DYING because of the GOP policy, which is ANTI-BUSINESS as well, to not allow Medicaid expansion.

When I keep seeing these aggressive efforts to cut food stamps, disability payments, and health care for the poor, when there are no other resources for them and the 1% are making out like bandits, I can only include that they want these people to die. They aren't just ignoring them--they're actively looking for ways to hasten their deaths.

What else could it mean?

Oh wait its the democrats were they keep their powder dry until they feel the need to deny something the GOP is accusing them of. \sarcasm off

First, were AP half-way honest they would point out that the GOP has ZERO CREDIBILITY when it comes to budget balancing.

Second, note how they avoid pointing out that the GOP wants big increases in military spending.

Propaganda at work - don't trust AP in the slightest.

Here is an idea, let these overpaid, part time workers in elected office pay for their own healthcare. Pay them ONLY for the hours they show up for work, and vote on bills. Cut their "aides" down to two each instead of whole groups following them around like household help. Take away their passports to stop these "fact finding missions" overseas with their families in tow. Have the Sunday bobble head threads publish how much they are paid to spout their hatred of the President every week. Make it a LAW that whenever they give a speech, they must report who their "donors" are, who they are grifting from. STOP production of the new plane that has gone BILLIONS over budget, and likely will cost even more when finally completed. Cut the Pentagon budget, with fewer generals, there will be less wars. Who needs them if we have peace in our lifetime?

I'm all for balancing the budget. We should go back to the Clinton-era tax rates and cut the waste in the military budget.

It's hardly rocket science. When President Clinton was in office we had a booming economy. There's no need to re-invent the wheel.
