Ferguson Police Officers Released From Hospital After Ambush

Source: REUTERS

Two police officers in Ferguson, Missouri, were shot and wounded in what officials called an ambush early on Thursday, the latest spasm of violence arising from months of tension between African-Americans and the city’s mostly white police force.

The officers were treated and released from hospital, St Louis County Police said. Police Chief Jon Belmar earlier said a manhunt was under way for a suspect or suspects.

A 41-year-old officer from the St. Louis County Police was struck in the shoulder and a 32-year-old officer from the nearby Webster Groves Police Department had a bullet lodged near his ear after it passed through his cheek, Belmar said.

“This is really an ambush, is what it is,” Belmar said. “You can’t see it coming. You don’t understand that it’s going to happen.”

There is no excuse for shooting at the cops, no matter what your "reason."

However -- I'm not surprised that it's reached this point. I hope it doesn't spread from here.

is at a sufficient distance so as not to be immediately spotted. They aren't the same thing.

My understanding is that this appears to be the latter. Why are they calling it an "ambush" if the targets were standing in front of the Ferguson PD building as a protest rally dispersed?

Just when it seems this might be headed towards calmer days ahead.

First there were reports of a sniper then the Police said they were "Embedded" in the protesters. Bizarre there are no reports of the gunmen firing from the crowd considering it would be hard to do unnoticed by the 60-80 people there. No witnesses, no description and yet they manage to raid a suspects house.
Suspects? A resident of Ferguson with an axe to grind. Possible. But that would only inflame the current situation.
Someone wanting to stir up more racial tension? Probable.
