6th suspect in Boris Nemtsov's killing blows himself up, report says
Source: CNN
A sixth suspect in the shooting death of a top Russian opposition figure blew himself after a standoff with police in the capital of the Chechen Republic, state-run television reported Sunday.
Beslan Shavanov, 30, was holed up in a building in Grozny when police arrived to arrest him Saturday afternoon, Russia 24 reported. Police surrounded the building and Shavano tried to escape, throwing a grenade at police officers before blowing himself up, the station said.
The news came as Russian authorities reported making five other arrests in connection with Boris Nemtsov's killing.

Like assassinated liberal journalist Anna Politkovskaya, they arrest the trigger men or the bombers but they never arrest who ordered the murder.

(10,575 posts)Collier as Officer Tippit
Besides playing a central role in establishing a case against the brothers, Colliers death also served a powerful symbolic purpose in the official narrative, with a huge memorial service for the MIT officer on April 24, addressed by Vice President Biden. Throughout, the spotlight has been on Collier as Heroa kind of ritualistic hagiography devoid of any inclination to investigate the actual circumstances of his death.
For students of history, however, this part of the narrative had a familiar ring. Exactly half a century ago, another traumatic event took place: the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The big break in that case came several hours later, when a police officer, J.D. Tippit, was shot and killed. Soon, one of the many employees in a tall building on Kennedys parade route, Lee Harvey Oswald, was connected to both events. Like Tamerlan Tsarnaev, he had recently spent time in Russia. Like Tamerlan Tsarnaev, he had been under scrutiny by the FBI before the crime.
In both cases, it was the killing of a police officer that turbocharged the police pursuitand that, once the suspect was apprehended, convinced the public quickly that the police had their man.
Until the shooting of officer Collier, the Tsarnaevs were just two guys seen on a video wearing backpacks. And until the Tippit shooting, Oswald was just one of many employees in a building that most eyewitnesses felt was not even the source of the shots that killed Kennedy.

(3,746 posts)A Chechen suspect in the killing of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov is a "deep believer" who was shocked by the Charlie Hebdo cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said on Sunday.
Russian investigators said last week they were looking into the possibility that Islamist militants had shot dead Nemtsov, a liberal, over his defence of the cartoons in the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.
"All who know Zaur (Dadayev) confirm that he is a deep believer and also that he, like all Muslims, was shocked by the activities of Charlie and comments in support of printing the cartoons," said Mr Kadyrov, writing on his Instagram account.
Mr Kadyrov also confirmed that Dadayev, one of five suspects detained over the Feb 27 killing of Nemtsov, had been a member of the Chechen police and had been decorated for bravery.

There's a lot of them running around and killing people. Just not in Russia, for the most part.
