Boehner, GOP vow continued immigration fight over Homeland Security funds

House Republican leaders flooded the Sunday TV talk shows, seeking to battle widespread criticism after an internal revolt by the party's most conservative wing nearly cut off funding Friday for the agencies that protect the nation's borders, ports, airports and other key areas.

But the leaders also promised to continue trying to use funding of the Department of Homeland Security to try to force President Obama to back down on executive actions that could defer deportations of several million immigrants who are in the country illegally.

Money for the department is set to run out again this Friday, a week after Congress narrowly averted a shutdown by approving a seven-day stopgap funding bill.

But GOP leaders offered no certain path forward to avoid a continued standoff and a repeat of the rebuke they faced from their own members.

5. They Must Think That Their Court Challenge Of PBO's Immigration Executive Actions Is Going To Fail..

Why else would they keep pushing tying this immigration issue to funding DHS?

If they were sure that they were going to win in the courts on this immigration issue they wouldn't need to hold DHS funding hostage.

back into their lap as it should because the entire thing could have been resolved if the House and Senate (both controlled by the Republicans) had just gotten off their lazy butts and done their job and addressed the countries immigration laws instead of holding onto this unreasonable and insane vendetta against Obama that they have.

The American public in the face of ISIS, etc. will view any political shenanigans around DHS funding as un-American.

They will eventually give in and approve an un-restricted funding measure for DHS. They may hold their noses but they will approve it. Failure to do so will be catastrophic.
