Washington (CNN)The White House slammed a full-page ad Sunday that appeared in The New York Times attacking National Security Adviser Susan Rice.
The ad, claiming "Susan Rice has a blind spot: Genocide," appeared in Saturday's paper promoting a talk by American Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. He claims that Rice has sought to silence Israel Prime Minister Benjamin
A senior administration official at the White House cited criticism from a number of Jewish advocacy groups in reaction to the ad, saying it has been met with "revulsion."
"This ad is being widely met with the revulsion that it deserves. Frankly, the ad says more about those who supported it than it says about Susan Rice," the official told CNN.

(15,805 posts)neither of which is America. Its not surprising that he's acting as a frontman for the Republican Party since he already ran for Congress as a Republican, and his motives are clear in championing the causes of a foreign government over the policies of the United States.
If his agenda is making sure Israel gets rebranded as a sole affiliate of the Republican Party, good job!

(10,650 posts)But, let the Israel first fanatics keep attacking Democrats and undercutting the President. Outrageous acts like this only hasten the day when first the Democrats, then most everyone else begins to question why we support Israel at all. We certainly have little reason to, given Israel's actions.

(27,461 posts)Marshall Wittmann, the spokesman for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which will host Rice on Monday at its annual conference, said, Ad hominem attacks should have no place in our discourse.
Also condemning it were the Orthodox Union, J Street, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs and the Rabbinical Assembly of the Conservative movement. In a combined statement, the leaders of the Union for Reform Judaism and Reforms Religious Action Center called the ad grotesque, abhorrent and a sinister slur.

(7,188 posts)I don't think it results in not supporting Israel, but it will result in more strings put on the $$ we provide and also result in the US
being more involved in elections in Israel to shape who is in charge.

(26,060 posts)DUers will realize they not only don't speak for Americans, they don't even speak for Democrats:
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/netanyahu-favorability-speech
Yet disapproval of Netanyahu's speech does not appear to have had a negative impact on his approval ratings in the U.S.
According to the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, Netanyahu's approval rating has increased in the last year. In the most recent poll, the Prime Minister has a 30 percent positive rating, up from a 24 percent positive rating a year ago.
And according to a Gallup poll released Monday, 45 percent of Americans view Netanyahu favorably, up from 35 percent in 2012.
Sixty percent of Republicans said they view Netanyahu favorably, while only 31 percent of Democrats do. But Netanyahu's favorability has still improved among Democrats, despite their opposition to his speech this week.
Netanyahu's favorability has gone up 6 points with Democrats and 10 points with Republicans since 2012.

Ad in today's NYT slandering Susan Rice is wrong on the facts -- she's a fierce defender of human rights and Israel's security.

Ad in NYT is vile and contemptible and has no place in legitimate discourse. Susan Rice is owed an apology.

(41,210 posts)But so is Boteach, a tea party sympathizer who thinks that social welfare is morally corrupting:

This latest is completely over the line, and has been strongly denounced by most Jewish organizations such as the ADL, and by mainstream Israeli politicians such as Livni.
If Netanyahu had anything to do with this ad (Livni suggested that he did), he needs to be out of office YESTERDAY!

(24,692 posts)If one wanted to pick someone who has shown a consistent "callous disregard for genocide", you could easily pick better candidates. If anything, many of us have a problem with her argument FOR intervention in countries where genocides might or did occur.
Obviously, she has been singled out because of her position in the administration which pursues negotiation with Iran rather than bombing it.

(66 posts)For these extremists. To them the U.S. Should be offering Israel and open check book, weaponry and Military support so Bibi can do whatever he pleases. Anything less makes you an Anti- Israel Antisemite. To some folks Israel shouldn't be questioned or held accountable. As a Cultural Jew I find these kinda of people disgusting.
