Walker leads in early Iowa poll

Source: CNN News

(CNN)Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is capping off more than a week of bad headlines with some good news out of the first-in-the nation caucus state.

Walker is leading a crowded field of potential presidential candidates in Iowa with 25% of likely Republican caucus-goers throwing their support to Walker in a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday. The Iowa caucus will be the first test for presidential hopefuls and while the last two GOP winners didn't get far in the primary process, the caucus is a crucial test of conservative credentials and can help signal some candidates off the campaign trail.

Libertarian favorite Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky came in second in the poll with 13% of support while former Gov. Mike Huckabee, the 2008 caucus winner, and Tea Party darling Ben Carson closely followed with 11% each.

Walker also topped the list of second picks, with 13% listing Walker as their second choice.

In 1988, it was Bob Dole of neighboring Kansas who won the caucuses.

In 2012, it was Michele Bachmann from neighboring Minnesota who won the Iowa Straw poll.

brief, but shallow shining star. Iowa has never made a president, but it has broken many candidates.

Obama won the Iowa caucuses and from there it was an easy ride. Helped by Hillary's incompetent team. Newsweek had a coronation issue the following week (that I was holding as Hillary won New Hampshire).

It is true, though, that only two individuals - one from each party - who won the Iowa Caucus when no incumbent was running - won the Presidency. Junior in 2000 and Obama in 2008.

that was not Iowa. That was Hillary. She did that to herself by by expecting the nomination to be handed to her on a gilt and platinum platter.

"The poll wasn't good news for Jeb Bush, the leading establishment candidate, who only pulled 10% of support from likely caucus-goers."

Looks like Poppy Bush is going to have to call in a bunch of favors for this one.

I said the same thing in 2000: God, please let them nominate Bush because he would have no chance against Gore.

That said, my ultimate fantasy scenario is that Walker thinks he really will win, resigns as Governor of our state, and then gets trounced. And since this is MY fantasy scenario, let's say he gets trounced by President Sanders and Vice President Warren.

Now, with him being such a Koch whore and Koch spending $900 million dollars to steal the election, I'm a little concerned. He's a tealiban nitwit, dumb, uneducated, law breaking ass but he is their ass because he has no scruples or principals and will do whatever they say, no matter how heinous.

My son has excellent political instincts and he's the one who informed me of the danger this jerk represents. Hopefully the reality of the sorry state of WI economics will be the key to his defeat.

That's what I'm looking for in a President.
