White House Takes Another Jab At Giuliani: We 'Feel Sorry' For Him

Source: TPM

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Friday that he thinks Rudy Giuliani's reputation has taken a hit since he said he didn't think President Barack Obama "loves America." He added that he felt "sorry" for the former New York City mayor.

"It's sad to see when somebody who has attained a certain level of public stature -- and even admiration -- tarnishes that legacy so thoroughly," Earnest said in a press briefing. "The truth is, I don't take any joy or vindication or satisfaction from that."

"I think really the only thing that I feel, is I feel sorry for Rudy Giuliani today," he added.

White House spokesman Eric Schultz had pointed out Thursday that Giuliani made the same attack against the President during his "fleeting 2007 run for the presidency."

One of the most effective ways to insult someone is to express pity for them. Well played, Josh Earnest.

Giuliani was doing well upstate until he went upstate. The more they saw of Giuliani the less they liked him. He pulled out when his doom was certain.

By the beginning of April, Hillary had pulled ahead of Rudy in the polls for the first time in months—by up to 10 points. Rudy had lost among all his core groups: fellow Catholics, city residents, suburbanites, even among white men. His striking loss of support was summed up by analysts in one word: Dorismond. But to those who know him best, it may not have been the racial crisis that provoked Giuliani’s eccentric behavior but, rather, Giuliani’s eccentric behavior that provoked the crisis.

I guess that the White House must be more magnanimous than I am. And besides, all he's doing is trying to attract attention to himself before he announces his 2016 presidential campaign.

Most people don't even give a damn about him anymore.

So congrats, Rudy. You actually succeeded in making yourself briefly relevant again in the news. Now back to political obscurity with you.

"Feel sorry for him because he has fallen so far" has got to rip a megalomaniac like Giuliani to bits. It also spotlights Giuliani's pathetic desperation for attention, which is why he said those ridiculous things in the first place.

I'd say "VERY early" (as in, started long ago).

It's possible I guess.

But where does dementia begin and "normal asshole republican" end?
