800,000 Using HealthCare.gov Were Sent Incorrect Tax Data

Source: New York Times

WASHINGTON — About 800,000 taxpayers who enrolled in insurance policies through HealthCare.gov received erroneous tax information from the government, and were urged on Friday to hold off on filing tax returns until the error could be corrected.

The Obama administration, under heavy pressure from congressional Democrats, also announced that it would give several million people more time to buy health insurance so they could comply with federal law and avoid tax penalties.

The incorrect insurance information is used in computing taxes. Consumers can expect to receive corrected data in the first week of March. With the new data, officials warned, some taxpayers will owe more and some will owe less.

Officials said they did not know why the error had occurred.

organizations could have anything to do with it?

Just like you have to be nuts to believe that one of the greatest and most honest journalists in HUMAN HISTORY was duped and had paper planted on him, to believe that you have to believe someone like Karl Rove is underhanded and dishonest. (Dan Rather)

We cant be believing that, now can we?

What we should ALL Be focusing on is NOT

ISIL or ISIS

but healthcare, universal, single payer.

After we get that, after we all agree that health care should be nationalized, we can start talking about water and other stuff.

Health insurance vs health care is at the core of all financial decisions, problems, etc.

Want to change jobs?

Fuck you, maybe you wont get health insurance at the new place and you make too much to get much of a credit on ACA, etc.

THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT, wake up folks, using healthcare this way is how they control you and force you to stay at a job you hate.

The administration is only doing this so people can avoid paying the tax. How will we feel when the Walker administration (or whoever the next Repub President is) announce that they are changing the rules so people can avoid paying taxes that they don't like?

And no it is not a stretch. The GOP wants to eliminate ALL taxes, they can just pick and choose which ones they want the IRS to enforce, and use this as a precedent.

As for the FUBAR of the tax info sent, that is gonna suck for people that most need speedy tax refunds.

living paycheck to paycheck, you can't afford to be hit with a penalty like this. It's not just $90. It's $90 per person in your family. Mine would have been $360 for my family of four if I didn't have insurance. Give them the time they need. Some people don't have extra cash they can just throw around.
You come down too hard on people, they are going to vote against your side in the next election.

It wasn't that I think we should "punish" people with the tax, the point is that once we start excusing taxes for one certain portion of the population (who also happen to be your voters) you open the barn door that the Republican will gladly keep open.

This should have never been part of the law to begin with, but since it is we should follow that law.

Besides if you can't afford the tax, you won't be able to afford the insurance so next year your pain will be worse.

At last count President Obama has made something like 80 or more changes using his executive privilege to this law. It was bad when it was written and its bad now.

because this is expensive stuff. And this is a new thing that's never been tried in this country before. And if you hammer people like that, you're going to piss them off. And you will look at it like this: One party wants you to pay a huge, painful tax that your family can't afford. The other party has voted 40+ times to get that repealed. Which one do you think you'll vote for next time? Multiply that by a million people in that situation.

I was caught without auto insurance once. Couldn't afford it on top of gas and food and rent. I was fined. And I had to pay $350 per year for 3 years as part of a BS "Driver responsibility program", or my license would be suspended. You think I could afford that? Hell no. I stopped driving for 3 years while I paid that off. The bus sucks, but I got used to it.
When it's health insurance, you don't have the option of not living for 2 years while you pay off a BS penalty.

Just received an e-mail from Healthcare.gov informing me that my form 1095 was incorrect and not to file my taxes yet. Well, I like to get this tax business over with early every year so I filed and found out from my accountant that I owed $1133. So i contacted my accountant and she said she would have to file an amended return if the numbers on the 1095 are way different from the first 1095 I received. So then I said well there will be no charge for filing an amended return RIGHT??? WRONG!!! An extra $60 half of my original cost to have my taxes filled out.. What a joke!!! I'm writing Barack and telling him that the Healthcare site should pay for all those amended returns!! This is BS!!!

"Just pay the fine. You owe it, pay it." I'm not one of those people. I don't know anyone that could just pay $1100 out of the blue. I know I would end up homeless if I had to pay it.
This whole thing is a mess. I hope they either get rid of the penalty, or they get their act together.
