MADISON, Wis. (AP) _ In a surprise announcement, the Republican leader of the state Senate says he will schedule a vote for next week on a yet-to-be-introduced bill that would make Wisconsin a right-to-work state.
Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said Friday on WTMJ radio that he has 17 votes to pass the bill now. He says it will be introduced later Friday and he plans to hold a vote either Wednesday or early Thursday............
Under right-to-work, private sector workers would not be required to join unions or pay dues as a condition of employment.
