Dozens dead in Shebab attack on Mogadishu hotel
Source: AFP
Somalia's Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab insurgents killed at least 25 people Friday in an attack on a popular hotel in the capital Mogadishu where government ministers and officials were holding Friday prayers.
Twin explosions followed by heavy gunfire were heard from the upmarket Central Hotel, close to the presidential palace, with the Islamist gunmen reportedly blasting their way into the fortified building before storming the complex.
The attack is one of the worst in recent years.
An official at the presidential palace, known as Villa Somalia, said that at least 25 people were killed and the severity of injuries among the wounded meant the death toll was expected to rise.

They are not Muslims, they are criminals.
It is so simple a concept it hurts me to see some folks on DU not understand it.
Meanwhile I see CNN is trying to scare folks because "3 British teens may be en route to Syria", complete with worn out from use B roll of guns and black flags and howitzers.
Are you scared...now? 3 British teens are going to be "fighters/cannon fodder"!
Where is my blankee....??
How do you tell folks being brainwashed by their media that they are being brainwashed?
After the thorough media brainwashing of 10 years ago I guess some in media think are on to some infallible trick. Rinse and repeat. Let loose the dogs of war on the scary Muslims again.
Jeff Zucker, give it up, your Islamaphobic network programming is just getting sad.

Are they representative of all Muslims? No. Not at all.
Like it or not, the Abrahamic religions all contain calls to violence in their holy books. To ignore this as the driving force for those who self-admit that it is, in fact, their driving force isn't helpful. It's applying the "true Scotsman" fallacy. To ignore the religious motives behind ISIL is a strategic blunder.

and wrongly because to actually consider that ISIS is as murderous, evil and criminal as the KKK and nothing more, is too nuanced?
What religion were the ones just killed in the article, in Nigera, in Iraq, in Syria in Baghdad every other day...what religion are the folks ISIS and AQ killing by far the most? Do you think the dead believe
ISIS are Muslims because the dead would also say they are not.
Christians killed, wall to wall media, Muslims.....not so much.
If they are true Muslims why are they killing mostly other Muslims...try some logical analysis, like Obama does.

(21,132 posts)They are self-described Muslims. They are trying to fulfill prophecies of that religion.
Are they representative of all Muslims? No.
Are any of the Abrahamic religions actually religions of peace? No, not in practice nor in revered texts.
The KKK is made up of Christians. Are all Christians KKK members? No.
All squares are rectangles. All rectangles are parallelograms. Not all parallelograms are rectangles. Not all rectangles are squares.
Is a Venn diagram necessary?

(23,946 posts)having to listen to Democratic Party President Obama is too much?
"If Obama said that" means you clearly have not listened at all to your own President....but you have to the sound bites and spin of media.
You are not alone.

(21,132 posts)ISIL is made up of Muslims. Period. Anyone who says otherwise is using the True Scotsman fallacy to make the assertion. Period.
I don't care what Obama's views are on the subject. They are immaterial.
