Bill would end union requirement for state workers

Source: AP

HELENA (AP) – A bill has been introduced in the Montana Legislature that would allow state employees the choice of whether to become a union member and that would end collection of union dues through the state payroll system.

“It’s a worker-freedom issue,” said Rep. Art Wittich, R-Bozeman, about his House Bill 462. “It ends forced union dues. If they want to continue to participate and pay union dues, that’s fine with me.”

Eric Feaver, president of the MEA-MFT union, was critical of the proposed bill, saying it would make Montana a right-to-work state.

“I think it’s a frontal assault on public employee collective bargaining,” Feaver told Lee Newspapers of Montana. “He wants to kill it.”

Since he this right wing republican who likes to go around and infringe how a person wants to be represented by a UNION, then maybe a democrat should put forth legislation that all elected officials work for free and ask under the PREAMBLE of the Constitution how this individual would feel if he was denied the PREAMBLE of the Constitution

3. Illinois comptroller refuses to implement anti-union order

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Illinois' comptroller will not implement an anti-union executive order issued by the state's new Republican governor earlier this week, the state's attorney general's office said on Friday.

Leslie Munger, a fellow Republican who was appointed by Governor Bruce Rauner, is following current law in not enforcing Rauner's order to eliminate "fair share" fees for about 6,500 state employees, said a spokeswoman for Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

The fees are paid by workers who are represented by a union but have chosen not to join.

"We agree with the comptroller's assessment and actions in that fair share fees are applicable under current law," said Natalie Bauer, spokeswoman for Madigan, a Democrat. "Fair share fees are constitutional."

Anyway, good news from Illinois (though probably short-lived)

Madigan is right.

Rauner is trying to rule, or reign, by executive order. He is slime.

Lisa's powerful daddy will have to set him straight, and soon!

have right to work laws and Montana is not one of this.

Montana House Bill 462 would not make Montana a right to work state as the bills provisions do not apply to private sector employees.

would also support "freedom from additional fees" legislation for people who reduce their use of fossil fuels with green technology. I'm sure he would.

That means that these employees won't receive any benefits that the union is able to negotiate so there will be a two tier employee structure, causing furthur expense for the payroll department, good job Artie.
