New Poll Shows Christie's In-State Approval at Record Low

Source: TPM

Only 37 percent of New Jersey voters gave New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) a favorable rating, according to a new Rutgers-Eagleton Poll released Friday.

The 37 percent finding means there's been a decline of 7 points in the last two months. A majority also said they had an unfavorable view of the governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate.

"For the first time, a clear majority (53 percent) feels unfavorable toward the governor," the poll said. "His overall job approval is also clearly negative: 52 percent disapprove while 42 percent approve, a drop of six points since December."

Twenty percent of those surveyed said Christie's at times abrasive personality was to blame for his declining popularity. Another 15 percent cited Bridgegate, the controversy over massive lane closures on the George Washington Bridge that critics say was due to one of Christie's political vendettas. Ten percent said the decline was because Christie was ignoring his duties as governor in order to possibly run for president.

but were just outvoted by the Koch fed masses of ignoramuses. OR - Christie stole both with voting machine hacking?

Hey, I live in FL, and our stupid state put Scott in TWICE (I'm still in shock). I did everything I personally could and me and my whole family voted against him, but again the teabaggers are idiots. Actually, I truly think he stole both elections because I know of no one who will admit voting for him, except my bosses son who worked for Voldemort. Even the few Repugs friends I have voted against him.

he's fallen a long way already and he's on the express elevator-going down!

"As one respondent said, 'Christie visiting different states for the presidential race made New Jerseyans not like him,'" said David Redlawsk, director of the Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling and professor of political science at Rutgers University. "Others used words like 'arrogance,' 'rudeness' and 'abrasive' to explain the turnaround from his high flying post-Sandy days. And of course, all manner of mentions of Bridgegate and other scandals were offered."

We're all anxious to see him get what he deserves-patience. It's coming.

I doubt we'll be hearing anything from him but, the rest of the talking heads will pretend they've been suspended also and not say anything about the poll.
