'Revenge porn' law passed in Britain

Source: Agence France Presse

London (AFP) - A new law banning "revenge porn" -- sexually explicit images shared online by a former partner without their ex's consent -- was passed in England and Wales Thursday.

The law covers images shared on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter as well as those spread by SMS, email and online.

"It's a start," Laura Higgins from the UK Safer Internet Centre, which manages a revenge porn helpline, told AFP.

"It's a very big problem. For every case that we deal with, we find dozens of other people's profiles who probably don't know that they're online yet," she said.

I have every right to take whatever pics of whatever activities in whatever state of undress with another consenting adult that I want to. And I have every right to expect those pictures to not be shared with the public without my consent. END of story.

The last part though is the problem as you didnt have a "right" to that until recently as before it was an expectation that the other party would not be a douchebag and share them with others.

I SHOULD have a right to expect not to be shared without consent. I'm glad it's starting to be that way.
