Tennessee Lawmaker Wants Bible To Be The State Book
Source: Huffington Post
State Rep. Jerry Sexton (R) put forward his legislation Tuesday. He did not return a request for additional comment.
Last month, legislators in Mississippi introduced two bills to designate the Bible as the state book.
"The Bible provides a good role model on how to treat people," said Mississippi state Rep. Tom Miles (D), one of the cosponsors of that state's legislation. "They could read in there about love and compassion."

(8,733 posts)Numbers 31:14-18 NLT:
"But Moses was furious with all the military commanders who had returned from the battle. "Why have you let all the women live?" he demanded. "These are the very ones who followed Balaam's advice and caused the people of Israel to rebel against the LORD at Mount Peor. They are the ones who caused the plague to strike the LORD's people. Now kill all the boys and all the women who have slept with a man. Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves."
That Moses and his god sound like great and wonderful people. I can feel the "love and compassion" that Tennessee state rep Tom Miles was referring too.
