Both sides gear up for fight over Rauner order on union dues

CHICAGO (AP) — A fight is brewing over Gov. Bruce Rauner's decision to end a requirement that Illinois state workers pay union dues even if they don't want to join a union.

Labor leaders said Tuesday they're looking into legal options to challenge a federal lawsuit the Republican governor filed against more than two dozen public-employee unions. The lawsuit, filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Chicago, seeks to have "fair share" dues declared unconstitutional.

Rauner also issued an executive order Monday directing that the dues withheld from paychecks of about 6,500 employees be placed in an escrow account rather than forwarded to unions. The money will be held in the account until the court case is decided, and returned to workers if the courts rule in Rauner's favor.

Withholding the dues could keep an estimated $3.75 million from being deposited into the unions' bank accounts, according to estimates provided by Rauner's office.

Rauner bought the Illinois governorship.
During the campaign he praised Governor Scott Walker and said he WANTED to do to Illinois what Walker did to Wisconsin and that's break the unions. He even praised Ronald Reagan breaking the air traffic Union and planned to do the very SAME thing.
I guess the voters didn't quite hear that!

This guy wants to CUT and CUT the salaries and benefits of the little guy.
YET his wife Diana Rauner hired a chief of staff for $100,000!!!
He's now hired a CFO Donna Arduin for $120,000 for 4 MONTHS WORK!!!!!!
According to Rauner "she's THE BEST in AMERICA".
She's going to PROVIDE ADVICE to the governor on how to deal with Illinois pending fiscal challenge.
Supposedly our state has no money and yet when the 1% want to hire their friends the money magically appears.
You mean to say that Governor Rauner with ALL his connections, couldn't find a friend to give ADVICE for FREE!!!!!
You want advice I could give it and I won't charge the state a dime!!!
There's so much WASTE and FAT that needs to be trimmed and with NO political connections, or political aspirations, I'm sure a group of housewives who are USE TO WORKING WITHIN A BUDGET could get the job done.

This guy is another Mitt Romeny think Bane Capital, taking a good business, loading it with debt , so it goes into bankruptcy and they walk away with millions! The workers lose their pensions and benefits!
The people of Illinois want change and boy are they going to get it. Public schools dismantled and vouchers and charter schools to replace them.
Look what Scott Walker is doing to the Universities in Wisconsin!!
This is what you get when BILLIONAIRES and the KOCH brothers BUY an elected office.

Isn't this a joke AMERICANS fighting and DYING for DEMOCRACY and FREEDOM in other countries, and yet AMERICANS can't be BOTHERED to FIGHT RIGHT HERE AT HOME!!!!
