GRAND HAVEN, MI - Operations have resumed for U.S. Coast Guard personnel at Station Grand Haven and Sector Field Office Grand Haven following a morning break-in at the facility.
No Coast Guard members were injured as a result of the incident involving a 34-year-old Michigan male, who crashed his truck into the U.S. Coast Guard Station, 601 S. Harbor Drive, in Grand Haven, according to a release by the Ninth Coast Guard District External Affairs Office in Cleveland.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, reportedly broke into the facility, assaulted Coast Guard personnel and made a threat of an explosive device in the truck.
Station Grand Haven and Sector Field Office units were evacuated as a result of "a telephoned bomb threat" and did not return until investigators determined there were no explosive devices in the vehicle, per the release.
