At least 14 people reported dead after crowd trouble at Egyptian league match

Source: The Guardian

At least 14 people are reported to have been killed when supporters of Egyptian club Zamalek clashed with police before a game on Sunday.

The incident is thought to be the worst football-related incident since the Port Said disaster three years ago, according to a source quoted by Egyptian newspaper Ahram Online. At least 20 poeple are also also reported to be injured.

Fan group Ultras White Knights said on its official Facebook page that the death toll had reached 20.

Police used tear gas to disperse supporters at Cairo’s Air Defence Stadium, an army-owned venue, a few hours before Zamalek played ENPPI.
