Wyoming Senate rejects Obamacare Medicaid expansion

Source: Reuters

BY RUFFIN PREVOST

The Wyoming Senate on Friday rejected a bill that would have supported the state's expansion of the Medicaid program for the poor under President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law, effectively shutting the door for the remainder of year.

Opponents of the measure in the Republican-dominated state senate voiced concerns about possible complications with its implementation, and argued that increased health spending would add to the federal debt.

A companion bill in the state's House of Representatives was pulled from committee as well on Friday.

"Many Senators campaigned on the promise to not expand Medicaid services," said Senate President Phil Nicholas after a 19-11 vote against the measure, adding that the chamber still worked "incredibly hard" to craft a bill that would have been revenue-neutral.

They should all gather together in a broom closet somewhere and throw their elected bastards out of office.

3. As a Wyoming native ...

... and former resident, I can tell you that Wyomingites are the most fervent of those in this country who will always vote against their own self interests. (Not the only ones, but certainly up towards the top of the list.)

There is a large population of low-income, lower middle class, working poor in Wyoming -- and 90 percent of them have been convinced that this is what makes them 'real' Americans.

Wyoming used to have a slogan about being what American was in the 1890s ... like that was a good thing.

Frankly, I don't have any sympathy for the residents of Wyoming (which still includes some of my relatives).

Interesting how they'll sop of agricultural subsidies regardless of the status of the federal deficit/debt.

The only reason why Wyoming would reject the Medicaid expansion is the republicans are heartless assholes that want to crush the poor of any hope. Just as the assholes in Kansas are doing to the education system there, I was raised in the fucking dust bowl and they couldn't teach a mule to kick a spit bucket or start a business.
