Congressman Aaron Schocks legally-documented residence in the 18th District is listed for sale as a foreclosure.
The congressmans home address is listed as 222 W. Detweiller Drive on his Federal Election Commission filing dated Tuesday. But a foreclosure listing has been up for more than a week, and the 35 photos posted of the property show what appears to be a vacant home.
The person listed as the last owner is William Boyd.
The five bedroom, six bath home is listed for $2.3 million. The 7,236 square feet of living space is listed as a single family residence, but its believed the Congressman has been renting a carriage house portion of the property not registered as a stand alone address.
222 Detweiller Dr., Peoria, IL 61615

but registered to vote address was in DC.
Your homestead exemption has to be your primary residence..the one you live in.

There's no mention in the listing that it's under foreclosure or that there is a carriage house.
But Zillow shows it as a foreclosure and only 7200 square feet.

(42,641 posts)Sure 9400 square feet sounds like a lot, but you too could have a nice house like this if god loved you and wanted you to prosper. But seriously, how does the 9400 sq ft house fit in when the Republicans talk about shared sacrifice? Wonder if I will read about this story in the Chicago Tribune, the main right wing rag in the Chicago area?

(67,782 posts)We have a bunch of 6000-8000 square foot houses (I know a couple of people who own them) Most of them are half empty. They have furniture in a few rooms, that's it. And now many of them are under water mortgage-wise.
Nah, not jealous at all - we love our cozy little 1300 square foot house.

Ali Bahaj then a Vice President at Caterpillar and his wife Gloria have donated more than $45,000 over the last decade to the Caterpillar PAC and various Republican officeholders including Congressman Schock. In fact, Federal Election Commission records show that Mr. and Mrs. Bahaj each made the maximum allowable donation to Aaron Schocks campaign in 2008. These were legal donations and they arent the first or last time a Member of Congress received donations from constituents.
In turn, Congressman Schock has carried water repeatedly in Washington, D.C. for Caterpillar, even going on Fox News to defend the company against what he claimed were outrageous attacks that demonize the company for avoiding $2.4 billion in taxes by shifting profits to a Swiss subsidiary. In fact, just last month, Schock defended the companys move to lay off workers by blaming the problem on President Obama a statement that earned him a rebuke from the State Journal-Register in Springfield.
Congressman Schock on October 16, 2012 sold his home to the Bahajs for $925,000. Thats more than three times the tax assessed value of the property. Zillow estimates that the house was worth approximately $695,000 that month >>

(50,557 posts)I made my mistakes, but in all of my years of public life, I have never profited, never profited from public service I earned every cent. And in all of my years of public life, I have never obstructed justice. And I think, too, that I could say that in my years of public life, that I welcome this kind of examination, because people have got to know whether or not their congressman is a crook. Well, I am not a crook. I have earned everything I have got.
