Source: Australian Broadcasting Corporation
Prime Minister Tony Abbott will face a spill motion against his leadership early next week after West Australian Liberal MP Luke Simpkins emailed party room colleagues to announce he would push for the PM's leadership to be put to a vote.
The spill motion will be seconded by MP Don Randall, with a third WA Liberal, Dennis Jensen, saying he will support it.

In Mr Simpkins' email he writes that: "In the last two weeks I have been inundated with emails and walk-ins to my Electorate Office all questioning the direction the Government is being led in.
"The knighthood issue was for many the final proof of a disconnection with the people.

It really couldn't happen to a better person - I don't believe I have ever seen such a spiteful, vindictive, and divisive leader since I first became aware of politics. And let's not forget the lying - every single promise he made before the 2013 election has been broken, while he openly governs for the interests of the few - the RW IPA, Rupert Murdoch, and the mining industry. The rest of the country can go hang.
The truth is, he should never have got where he is, and wouldn't have had he not sold his soul to the above-mentioned in return for their ability to get him elected. He's been carried by others all his life, and at last, he's been caught out.
Sweet.

(8,445 posts)...waged a scare campaign against Labour because of the carbon tax.
Originally, the carbon tax was one of the issues that Labour campaigned on (and won). When they didn't back down, Murdoch went after them full force... A true oligarch.

(6,384 posts)As soon as he saw that public opinion was swinging strongly against Abbott, he started putting the boot in. They're both despicable.

Abbott has neither.
If it gets rid of Abbott, this might end up being a good nighthood after all....

(35,961 posts)It won't be compensation for the many jobs that Abbott and his cronies have destroyed, but him gone would give me something to be happy about. They're saying in the article that Turnbull's the only likely contender. I like Turnbull's stances on social issues and know he'd be a far more moderate leader than Abbott, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Turnbull challenges and defeats Abbott. Or if Abbott doesn't lose his job, I hope there's a double dissolution and we go to an early election and get rid of the fuckwit that way
